I’ve rounded up my favourite nail shades for the summer. Be aware, some serious hand contortion went into avoiding having rogue fingers waving around in the back of the pictures. I apologise if any got through.
Morgan Taylor: Fire cracker. I’ve been looking for a good red for a while. Most of my red polishes were too shimmery or too dark (hello Christmas!) and whilst this looks more of a red orange in the bottle it’s exactly the true red I was looking for.
Ciate: Ferris Wheel. I love a bit of baby blue, I think it’s an extension of my love of a mint nail. What I didn’t (initially) love was the consistency of this polish as it’s quite thin and took at least three coats to build an even colour, but I persevere – just look at how pretty it is.
Essie: Chinchilly. I bought this on my hols in New York, so I may be fond of it because of that. Actually, I’m pretty sure I’m fond of it because it makes a nice change to all the pastels and bright shades in summer, without being too dark.
Barry M: Grapefruit. I was a bit overexcited when I first got my hands on Barry M’s Gelly Hi Shine. This was the first shade I ever bought and it is ever so slightly neon in the light. This is my extra bright, extra glossy, summery shade.
Ciate: Sugar Plum. One last pastel. I didn’t know how much I’d like a lilac nail varnish, but it’s remarkably similar to the neutral, nude/pink shades that I wear the most. It’s different enough to make you go “ohhh” when you catch sight of your hands, but still quite natural (in a lilac sort of way). The consistency of this polish is also slightly thicker so I found it easier and quicker to apply.
Now let’s move on, that’s far too many pictures of my hands for my liking. Remind me to buy a nail swatch/wheel thing next time.
