If you’re in Bristol and are looking for some post Christmas relaxation and pampering, then I have just the woman for you. If you’ve never met Sasha from Balanced Beauty Bristol, then you should absolutely go and see her. I’d met Sasha at a couple of events and loved her genuine and enthusiastic approach to natural beauty, so I was chuffed to bits when she got in touch to ask whether I’d like to try one of her facials using Faith and Betty products. Faith and Betty are handcrafted in Bristol and use only natural ingredients so they are right up my street. Along with being a green beauty lover, Sasha has years of experience working in luxury spas, and incorporates ayurvedic techniques into her massage. I think all of that added up to make this facial a totally relaxing experience.
I went to visit Sasha at her cosy treatment room in her Easton home a few weeks ago. Sasha made me feel totally at ease as I sat in the armchair and she chatted to me about what was involved in the treatment. Then I hopped onto the heated bed (phenomenal), Sasha lit the room with just the warm glow from her crystal light and the relaxation began.
Sasha started with an oil cleanse and as an oil enthusiast in my own skincare, that was a joy. Next step was some lymphatic drainage massage, which always has a huge benefit for my skin, followed by some marma point massage. This was the bit where I thought I might actually go into a trance. Pressure was applied and held on one small point of my face, then moved evvvveeeerrrr so slightly. It was genuinely mesmerising and feels like the whole area relaxes when the pressure is released again. Then Sasha applied a mask, placed rose water soaked pads on my eyes, then wrapped my head in warm towels whilst she went on to do a hand and foot massage. Just take a moment to imagine how lovely that is…it’s like finding yourself in a warm, cosy cocoon. The treatment finished with more facial massage and I was left with super soft, beautifully moisturised skin.
One of my favourite things about this treatment was it felt like Sasha was totally focused on what she was doing (she even changed the music at the start so she could listen to something which helped her focus on the marma point massage). It felt like I was really in safe hands.
If you aren’t already following Sasha, I urge you to go and look her up. She also offers threading, waxing, massages and pedicures so something for everyone, although I really believe this was the best facial I’ve had so I would highly recommend that as a starter. Seriously, go book your appointment. In addition to that, her Instagram is the stuff of dreams and her blog has quickly become one of my favourites.
