I’ve long been a fan of making my own body scrubs. They’re so easy to whip up from the things I normally have in the kitchen and whilst I’ll occasionally (and very happily) use a body scrub I’ve bought, I usually prefer to save my money and just make it myself. So as it’s Christmas, naturally, I’ve made a Christmas version. This could either get you in the mood for some Christmas pampering or make a nice last minute stocking filler for a beauty fan.
Now, if I had little gingerbread man moulds, I definitely would have used them, but I didn’t, so I went with a festive star instead. Chilling the scrub after it’s in it’s mould lets it keep it’s shape, so you can use any mould you like.
1/2 cup demerara sugar
1/2 cup soft brown sugar
1/2 coconut oil
1 teaspoon ginger
Simply mix all the ingredients together, scoop into the mould, then pop in the freezer for 15 minutes, or the fridge overnight. You can melt the coconut oil before adding it to the mix if you like, but I don’t mind mixing it in whilst it’s still solid. Once you remove from the fridge or freezer, give the scrub a little time to soften enough then remove the mould. Unless you have a particularly warm home, this should then hold it’s own at room temperature after that. I’ve tested this for at least over a week and it’s still holding up very nicely.
My skin has been fine using this, but as it contains ginger, I’d recommend doing a small patch test to be sure this won’t irritate your skin.
As always, I appreciate your comments and love reading them. Do you make your own beauty products?
